Do you need a safe place with people you trust to leave your pet while you are away? Then look no further. Country Hills Veterinary Clinic offers boarding services exclusively to our established client’s pets. Finding a boarding facility where you feel comfortable leaving your pets is very important to your animals’ well-being and peace of mind. Here at Country Hills Veterinary Clinic, we recognize this and know what makes a good boarding facility. We also know that there are many choices out there, many places with cute names, fancy facilities, or radio spots. But it is our experience that one of the most important factors when choosing a facility to board your pet, is choosing one that is attached to a veterinarian clinic.
No one wants to think about something happening to their pet while they are away, but an unforeseen problem may arise once in a while. For example, a dog may break a nail and need the wound dressed or develop a cough needing immediate treatment to prevent further illness. In other instances, pets may become ill due to an existing health condition. If or when an injury or illness occurs, the most important thing is that any pet being boarded receives immediate and professional medical care. Here at Country Hills Veterinary Clinic, we can ensure that your pet will receive this care at the hands of our experienced medical staff if the need arises.
As a veterinary clinic that also provides boarding, we have at our fingertips a fully stocked veterinary facility in the same building as our boarding kennels which makes access to medicines and supplies convenient for our staff if the need arises. We also have fully trained staff caring for your pets during their stay and, of course, our veterinarian, who is on staff during the day and on-call during the hours that we are closed. In addition, because we only provide boarding for our hospital clients, we can ensure that vaccine requirements are maintained and we also have instant access to full medical records and familiarity of each of our boarder’s medical history and personality.
When choosing a place to board your pets, facilities with “strict” vaccine requirements should be considered first. High standards of care show that the health and well-being of your pet and the pets around them are a top priority.
To ensure the health and safety of your pet while boarding, we require that dogs are current on their Rabies vaccine, DHLPPC (distemper & parvovirus combo vaccine), and especially the Bordetella and influenza vaccines at the time of boarding. With regards to cats, we require that they be up to date on their FVRCPC (herpes virus, calicivirus & panleukopenia combo), Leukemia vaccine, and Rabies vaccine. We also require all pets to be free of internal (Heartworms and intestinal parasites) and external parasites (Fleas and Ticks). If your pet is not current on any of the requirements, we can update them on the day of check-in.
Choosing a boarding facility that’s within a veterinary hospital or a boarding facility that has a veterinarian on staff such as Country Hills Veterinary Clinic is a very wise decision. Our familiarity with medical conditions and knowledge of how to handle pets with these conditions makes us an ideal facility to board your pet.
If your pet is on special medications, bring them in their original bottles with written direction as to the time and dose for each medication. Remember to inform the staff as to when your pet has had his or her last dose; this will ensure that your pet’s medical needs are met.
